Who We Are
Joya R. Subudhi | President
Raised among the historic brick and greenery of Richmond, VA, it was not surprising that Joya chose to explore a different Commonwealth and attend the similarly picturesque Boston University, where she got her BA in International Relations.
After graduation she wasted no time and took a dive into the booming late '90s economy and the fast-paced world of high-tech public relations at the Boston-based Miller Consulting Group, Inc., the leader in strategic public relations for change-driven companies. Never one to remain content with the familiar, whether at work or play, Joya rose through the ranks from intern to senior program manager and became a member of the senior staff within three years. While at Miller, she oversaw the implementation and tactical execution of public relations programs for national accounts.
Ever the Virginian, Joya returned to Richmond in 2000 when she was recruited to start and direct the public relations and marketing communications department for Foretec Seminars, Inc., a comprehensive association management company and a subsidiary of the Corporation for National Research Initiatives (CNRI), headquartered in Reston, VA.
In search of expanding her professional horizons in the international arena, Joya took a sabbatical to Amsterdam. After securing a beautiful apartment, learning to ride a bike in the biking capital of the world and generally living the cosmopolitan life of an expatriate, Joya returned to the U.S. refreshed and revitalized for the next chapter in her leadership career.
Joya served as Vice President of the Richmond Ad Club in 2005 and 2006, and chaired the Judging and Awards Committee of the 2004 Richmond Show. During 2005, she served as a C3 Trailblazer, offering volunteer PR counsel to local small businesses and nonprofit organizations. In 2006, she led the public relations for the Church Hill Association's Annual Holiday Festival, House Tour and Gala Ball. In 2008, she was on the board of Curated Culture, the organization that hosts Richmond’s popular art walk, First Fridays. Joya is a member of the Richmond Ad Club, the Historic Richmond Foundation’s Quoit Club, the Virginia Center for Architecture, the American Council for Technology (ACT) Industry Advisory Council (IAC) and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
In 2003, Joya was appointed to the Steering Committee of the North American IPv6 Task Force and named PR Advisor. She is also a volunteer communications consultant to the IPv6 Forum, an international technology consortium advancing the next generation Internet. For her pioneering work on the public relations surrounding the next generation of the Internet, in May of 2008, Joya received the IPv6 Forum President Award Public Relations for IPv6 Deployment.
